BBHS PHOTOGRAPHY STUDENTS ON EXCURSION
To curb the growing graduate unemployment rate, the Federal Government has introduced 32 trade entrepreneurial subjects to the Senior Secondary Schools curriculum and made it mandatory for all students to take at least one trade subject since the commencement of the 2011/12 Academic session. The aim is to encourage job creation, economic self-reliance, and promote constructive and productive engagement of Youths to arrest the problem of Mass unemployment and incidences of anti-social activities. At BBHS Mission, Photography has been approved by both the Senior Secondary Certificate examination bodies, WAEC and NECO. Part of the fulfillment of the Photography syllabus is for the students to visit the photography studio and photography laboratory.
On Thursday 27th of March, 2014, the Photography students of Baptist Boys High School were on an excursion to GOODDEAL Photo Digital Laboratory and SHOKOPET Photography Studio.
The students were given a warm welcome at the GOODDEAL Photo Digital Laboratory accompanied by the Photography teacher, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi. Our host, the manager of the photo lab, Mr. Akinwekomi Akinbobola gave the students a tour round the facilities while he educates them about the process of the modern photo printing technique. Group photography was taken with the manager, Mr. Akinwekomi Akinbobola and was printed. The photograph size was 12 inches by 16 inches which was laminated in the present of the students and mounted on a wooden background. They were also opportune to see the analogy camera film developing machine and copies of the negative. The students were also privileged to see how photo books are being made.
Same day, Thursday 27th of March, about 2pm, the Photography students of Baptist Boys High School Mission left for the SHOKOPET Photography Digital Laboratory. After a short expository into the art of photography by the photographer, Mr Kolawole Sorungbe the students were given the Canon digital camera to try out some shots. Each of these students were given chance to pick a model of choice and take two or more snap-shots.
The students were taken into the editing room after series of snap-shots. Here they were taught how to upload pictures into the computer and work on different photo editing soft-wares like Photoshop, Microsoft picture manager etc.
